Adams Rite 7100 Electric Strike for Deadlatches & Cylindrical Locks

SKU: 7100-340-628
$ 129.38

The Adams Rite 7100 Electric Strike provides remote electrical unlocking for doors equipped with an Adams Rite 4500, discontinued 4700 or 4900 Series deadlatch, as well as compatible cylindrical locksets with a 1/2" to 5/8" latchbolt projection.

When electrically actuated, the strike keeper releases the latchbolt so the door can be opened without retracting the latch with a key or lever. The 7100 can be used in aluminum, hollow-metal and wood applications when the frame preparation and selected configuration are compatible.

The standard 7100 features a compact 1-1/4" × 4-7/8" flat faceplate with radius corners. It is available for 12, 16 or 24-volt AC or DC systems and can be field configured for fail-safe or fail-secure operation during installation. Adams Rite

16V 0.22A 0.63A
24V 0.17A 0.74A

  • AC intermittent-duty units produce a buzz when operated.
  • An AC intermittent solenoid must not be powered continuously in either fail-safe or fail-secure mode.

Fail-Safe vs. Fail-Secure

The Adams Rite 7100 can be changed between fail-safe and fail-secure operation in the field during installation.

  • Fail secure: The strike remains locked when electrical power is removed.
  • Fail safe: The strike unlocks when electrical power is removed.

The correct setting should be selected according to the opening’s security, life-safety and applicable code requirements.

Standard Package

The complete Adams Rite 7100 is individually boxed with:

  • Electric strike
  • Flat, radius-corner faceplate
  • Mounting screws
  • Mounting clips
  • Adhesive shims

The shims accommodate jamb or stile extrusion thicknesses greater or less than the nominal 1/8" thickness.

Monitoring Option

The 7100 is available with two Form C monitoring switches that indicate:

  • Whether the latchbolt is engaged in the electric strike
  • Whether the strike jaw is blocked

Be sure to order the monitored configuration when this feedback is required; it is not automatically included with every 7100.

Lip-Extension Selection

The standard strike lip is sized for a 1-3/4" thick door that closes flush with the jamb edge.

When the door thickness, frame profile or distance from the door centerline to the jamb edge differs, the appropriate lip-extension configuration must be selected. Adams Rite identifies the lip dimension through the final dash number in the model configuration. content.assaabloyusa.com

Is the 7100 the Correct Model?

This listing is specifically for the Adams Rite 7100. The related model numbers use the same general strike platform but have different faceplates for different door and frame conditions.

Model Faceplate When to Consider It
7100 1-1/4" × 4-7/8", flat with radius corners Standard choice when the opening requires this compact flat faceplate. Lip extensions are available.
7101 1-1/4" × 4-7/8", radiused For the radiused nose of an inactive leaf in a pair of narrow-stile doors. Lip extensions are not available.
7110 1-7/16" × 7-15/16", flat with radius corners Choose when the opening preparation requires this longer and slightly wider faceplate.
7111 1-7/16" × 10-1/4", flat with radius corners Choose when the opening requires the longest faceplate offered in this group.
7130 1-1/4" × 6-7/8", flat with radius corners Designed to cover the existing strike opening when converting from an Adams Rite MS pivoted-bolt deadlock to a deadlatch.
7131 1-1/4" × 6-7/8", radiused Provides the conversion-cover faceplate for the radiused nose of an inactive narrow-stile door leaf. Lip extensions are unavailable.
7140 1-1/4" × 4-7/8", flat with square corners Choose when the frame preparation requires square faceplate corners rather than the 7100’s radius corners.

Monitoring is not available on the 7130, 7131 or 7140. Always match the faceplate dimensions and shape to the actual frame preparation before ordering. Adams Rite

Frequently Asked Questions

What locks are compatible with the Adams Rite 7100?

The 7100 is designed for Adams Rite 4500, discontinued 4700 and 4900 Series deadlatches. It also accepts compatible cylindrical locks with a 1/2" to 5/8" latchbolt projection.

Can the 7100 be used with a cylindrical lock?

Yes. The cylindrical lock must have a compatible latchbolt with a projection between 1/2" and 5/8".

Can the 7100 be installed in an aluminum frame?

Yes. The Adams Rite catalog identifies the 7100 Series for compatible aluminum, hollow-metal and wood applications. The correct frame preparation and faceplate must be verified.

Is the Adams Rite 7100 fail safe or fail secure?

It is field selectable for fail-safe or fail-secure operation during installation. The electrical configuration and applicable code requirements must also be considered.

What is the difference between the 7100 and 7101?

The 7100 has a flat faceplate with radius corners. The 7101 has a radiused faceplate designed to match the nose of an inactive leaf in a pair of narrow-stile doors. Lip extensions are available for the 7100 but not the 7101.

What is the difference between the 7100 and 7140?

Both faceplates measure 1-1/4" × 4-7/8". The 7100 has radius corners, while the 7140 has square corners. Monitoring is available on the 7100 but not the 7140.

When should I use the 7130 instead of the 7100?

Use the 7130 when converting an opening from an Adams Rite MS pivoted-bolt deadlock to a deadlatch and the larger 6-7/8" faceplate is needed to cover the previous strike opening.

Is the 7100 compatible with a deadbolt?

The manufacturer describes the 7100 for compatible deadlatches and cylindrical latchbolts—not for a projected deadbolt. Confirm the existing locking hardware before ordering.

Does the 7100 work on 12 or 24 volts?

Yes. The series is offered in 12-, 16- and 24-volt AC or DC configurations. The exact voltage and current type must be specified when ordering.

Is the 7100 continuous duty?

DC units may be operated continuously and are silent. AC configurations are intermittent duty and buzz when powered. An AC intermittent solenoid must not be energized continuously.

Does the 7100 include latch and keeper monitoring?

Monitoring is an available option, but it is not included with every configuration. Order the monitored model when latchbolt and strike-jaw status are required.

Are lip extensions available for the 7100?

Yes. Lip extensions are available for the 7100’s flat faceplate to accommodate different door thicknesses and jamb profiles.

Is the 7100 handed?

The strike can be turned upside down for the opposite hand, as shown in Adams Rite’s official catalog installation details. content.assaabloyusa.com
