The dormakaba Simplex 8148 is a fully mechanical pushbutton mortise lock that combines keyless combination entry with a 1-inch deadbolt for added security. It operates without batteries, electrical wiring, software or access cards, helping eliminate the ongoing expense of managing electronic credentials and replacing batteries.

Authorized users can gain exterior access by entering the programmed combination or using the appropriate key-override core. The interior lever allows free egress.

The Simplex 8148 includes passage and lockout functions for additional control. Passage mode allows access without entering the combination and is activated from the inside using the supplied thumbturn or key. Lockout mode disables combination entry from the exterior; authorized entry remains available through the key override.

Designed for standard ANSI 86 mortise door preparation, the 8148 features a 3/4-inch two-piece anti-friction latch, a 1-inch deadbolt, fixed ADA-compliant levers, a cast front housing and vandal-resistant solid-metal pushbuttons. The access combination can be changed directly at the keypad without removing the lock from the door.
