The SDC FS23M Series Spacesaver® Dual Failsafe Right Angle Electric Bolt Lock delivers advanced concealed electric locking for commercial, institutional, industrial, and high-security access control applications. The FS23M is a unique dual failsafe electric bolt lock available exclusively from SDC. Unlike conventional failsafe electric bolts that rely primarily on a spring to retract the locking bolt, the FS23M incorporates a repelling magnet system within both the bolt and strike. If the retracting spring fails, the magnetic force ejects the bolt from the strike to release the door, providing an additional level of failsafe reliability.
Advanced Dual Failsafe Technology
Conventional failsafe locking bolts depend on a spring to retract the bolt when power is removed. The FS23M provides an additional mechanical release mechanism through its hardened magnet core and repelling strike magnet. The bolt is designed to unlock with or without assistance from the spring, helping maintain reliable emergency release performance.
The FS23M is also listed by the California State Fire Marshal for locking perimeter entrance and emergency exit doors after hours, making it a specialized solution for applications where both security and emergency egress requirements are critical.
Concealed Right-Angle Design
The Spacesaver® right-angle bolt design positions the locking bolt perpendicular to the lock body, allowing the entire mechanism to be concealed within a frame or door stile. This creates a clean architectural appearance while eliminating exposed locking hardware and making the installation suitable for both new construction and retrofit applications.
The nylon bolt rotates freely, helping make attempts to tamper with or cut the bolt extremely difficult. Mounting tabs are included to simplify installation, while the compact mortise configuration provides flexibility in space-constrained applications.
Automatic Relocking for Swinging & Sliding Doors
An integrated automatic relock ball switch keeps the bolt retracted while the door is open. When the door closes, it depresses the ball switch and automatically causes the bolt to project and secure the opening.
The ball switch is field adjustable to accommodate varying door gaps and is bidirectional, allowing the FS23M to be used on both swinging and sliding doors.
