Full Product Description

The dormakaba Simplex L1041 Mechanical Pushbutton Lock combines three convenient methods of exterior access in one reliable, battery-free commercial lock: combination entry, mechanical key override and passage operation.

During normal secured operation, an authorized user enters the programmed combination and depresses the exterior lever to retract the latch. Management personnel can bypass the combination using a compatible mechanical key. When passage mode is activated from the interior, the exterior lever operates freely without requiring either the combination or a key.

The L1041 is the combination-entry, key-override and passage model in the Simplex L1000 Series. It is designed for facilities that need keyless access during secured periods, keyed entry for management or emergencies and unrestricted entry during regular business hours.

The key override allows the opening to remain part of a compatible keyed or master-keyed system. Available preparations support BEST-style small-format interchangeable cores and selected large-format removable cores from Corbin Russwin, Medeco, ASSA, Yale, Abloy, Schlage and Sargent. The correct preparation must be selected when ordering. The cylinder core is not supplied with the lock.

Passage mode is controlled from the interior using the control furnished with passage-function models. Once activated, the exterior lever retracts the latch without requiring the combination. When passage mode is deactivated, the lock returns to combination-controlled operation while the key override remains available.

Because the Simplex L1041 is completely mechanical, it requires no batteries, wiring, power supply, access cards, mobile credentials, software, computer or network connection. This eliminates battery-maintenance expenses and provides dependable standalone access control.

The L1041 stores one shared access combination. Combinations can use up to five buttons pressed individually or simultaneously, providing thousands of possible combinations. The code can be changed from the interior side without removing the complete lock from the door.

Heavy-duty construction includes a cast exterior housing, unified trim plate, vandal-resistant solid-metal pushbuttons and fixed ADA-compliant lever handles. The lock installs on properly prepared wood or hollow metal doors using an ANSI/ASA 161 cylindrical lock preparation with additional through holes.

The cylindrical latch carries a 3-hour UL/ULC fire rating for “A”-labeled doors, and the lock is weather resistant for suitable exterior applications. The L1041 is factory handed and must be ordered for the correct handing because it cannot be reversed in the field. Manufacturer specifications
