$ 644.78

The dormakaba Simplex LP1020 is a heavy-duty mechanical pushbutton lever trim that provides combination-controlled entry and mechanical key override through a compatible rim exit device while maintaining free egress from the interior. It requires no batteries, wiring or software and accepts compatible interchangeable or removable cylinder cores. Cylinder core, exit device and exit-device mounting hardware are not included.

Full Product Description

The dormakaba Simplex LP1020 Mechanical Pushbutton Exit Trim combines battery-free combination entry with the convenience of mechanical key override for compatible commercial rim exit devices.

During normal operation, an authorized user enters the programmed combination and depresses the exterior lever to retract the connected exit-device latch. Management, maintenance or emergency personnel can bypass the combination using a compatible mechanical override key. From the interior, the panic bar or push pad provides unrestricted free egress.

The LP1020 is the combination-entry and key-override model in the lever-operated Simplex LP1000 Series. Its key override allows the opening to remain part of a compatible keyed or master-keyed security system while providing convenient combination entry for everyday users.

Available key-override preparations support BEST-style small-format interchangeable cores and selected large-format removable cores from Corbin Russwin, Medeco, ASSA, Yale, Abloy, Schlage and Sargent. The correct core preparation must be specified when ordering. The cylinder core and operating keys are not supplied with the trim.

Because the LP1020 is completely mechanical, it requires no batteries, electrical wiring, power supply, access cards, software, computer or network connection. It remains operational during power and network outages while eliminating battery-replacement and electronic maintenance costs.

The lock stores one shared access combination. The code can be changed using the supplied combination-change tool without removing the trim from the door. The mechanical override key provides an alternate method of entry and does not change or erase the programmed combination.

Heavy-duty construction includes a cast exterior housing, reinforced mounting plate, vandal-resistant solid-metal pushbuttons and a fixed ADA-compliant lever. A standard 2-3/4" tailpiece connects the exterior lever to the compatible exit-device hub.

The LP1020 is factory handed and must be ordered for the correct door handing because it cannot be reversed in the field. The exit-device hub may rotate up to 60 degrees—counterclockwise for left-hand applications and clockwise for right-hand applications.

The LP1020 is weather resistant and available in four architectural finishes. It carries a 3-hour UL/ULC fire rating for “A”-labeled doors when installed with compatible listed components as part of an approved opening.

The LP1020 is exterior trim only. The rim exit device, strike and exit-device mounting hardware are sold separately. Always verify the exact exit-device model, handing, hub rotation and cylinder preparation before ordering. Manufacturer specifications

How the LP1020 Works

Combination Entry

Key Override

The compatible cylinder permits authorized personnel to operate the exterior trim without entering the pushbutton combination.

The interior exit device operates independently from the exterior trim and always provides free egress.

Handing and Hub Rotation

The LP1020 is factory handed and cannot be reversed in the field.

  • Left-hand trim operates a counterclockwise-rotating hub.
  • Right-hand trim operates a clockwise-rotating hub.
  • Maximum listed hub rotation is 60 degrees.

The complete model number generally begins with the handing designation:

  • LLP1020: Left Hand or Left Hand Reverse
  • LRP1020: Right Hand or Right Hand Reverse

Confirm handing from the exterior or keypad side of the opening.

Published Exit-Device Compatibility

The manufacturer publishes compatibility with selected models from:

  • Black & Decker/K-12
  • Cal-Royal
  • Detex
  • Dorex
  • dormakaba/DORMA
  • Monarch
  • Von Duprin

Important Compatibility Restrictions

dormakaba identifies the LP1000 as rim exit-device trim and states that it cannot be used with:

  • Mortise-design exit devices
  • Vertical-rod exit devices
  • Incompatible hub rotations
  • Devices without a compatible exterior trim hub
  • Applications exceeding the listed 60-degree hub rotation

Some published compatibility lists include model families available in several configurations. Confirm that the exact device is a compatible rim model, not simply that its series number appears on the list.

Compatibility may change when an exit-device manufacturer modifies its hub or trim design.

Von Duprin Compatibility

The LP1000 compatibility information includes selected Von Duprin:

  • 22 Series
  • 88 NL
  • 98 Series
  • 99 Series
  • 900 Series

For Von Duprin applications, verify that the exact device is a compatible rim model. Do not assume that all 98 or 99 Series configurations will accept the LP1020.

Mortise and vertical-rod configurations are not approved merely because they share the same series designation.

Tailpiece Options

Standard Tailpiece

  • 2-3/4" length
  • Included with the LP1020
  • Intended for standard door applications

Optional Extended Tailpiece

  • 5" length
  • Part number: 74773-000-01
  • Sold separately
  • Intended for freezer doors and other approved thick-door applications

Standard listed door thickness is 1-3/8" through 2-1/4".

Exit-Device Dogging

A compatible non-fire-rated exit device may be mechanically dogged without affecting the LP1020 trim.

When the device is dogged:

  • The exit-device latch remains retracted.
  • No combination or key is required to pass through the opening.
  • The LP1020 combination remains programmed.

When the device is undogged, the exterior trim returns to secured operation.

Mechanical dogging is generally not permitted on fire-rated exit hardware. Follow the device manufacturer’s instructions and applicable codes.

Door and Installation Requirements

  • Door thickness: 1-3/8" to 2-1/4"
  • Minimum recommended stile: 5"

  • Correct factory handing
  • Hub rotation no greater than 60 degrees
  • Correct cylinder-core preparation
  • Recessed through bolts may be required
  • Door reinforcement may be necessary
  • Exit-device and trim templates must align

Review both the LP1020 installation template and the exit-device manufacturer’s template before drilling the door.
