The dormakaba Simplex 2015 is a fully mechanical pushbutton outside trim that provides combination-controlled entry through a compatible exit device while preserving free egress from the interior. It requires no batteries, wiring, software, cards or electronic credentials. The 2015 features weather-resistant, heavy-duty construction and a satin chrome finish. Exit device, latch, strike and exit-device mounting hardware are not included.

Full Product Description

The dormakaba Simplex 2015 Mechanical Pushbutton Exit Device Trim provides battery-free exterior access control for compatible commercial exit devices. Authorized users enter the programmed combination and operate the exterior knob to retract the connected exit device. From the interior, the panic bar or push pad always provides free egress.

The Simplex 2015 is designed for facilities that need controlled exterior entry without the expense and maintenance associated with electronic access control. It requires no batteries, wiring, power supply, access cards, software, computer or network connection.

The lock stores one shared access combination. Combinations can use up to five buttons pressed individually or simultaneously, providing thousands of possible combinations. Authorized personnel can change the combination through the keypad without removing the lock from the door.

The 2015 includes a 2-3/4" adjustable tailpiece that connects the exterior trim to the compatible exit-device hub. An optional 5" tailpiece, part number 74773-000-001, is available separately for applications requiring additional length.

The unit is designed for exit devices with a non-handed or clockwise-rotating hub adjustable up to 90 degrees. The exit device may be mechanically dogged without affecting the operation of the Simplex 2015 trim.

Heavy-duty construction includes a cast exterior housing and vandal-resistant solid-metal pushbuttons. The weather-resistant design is suitable for appropriate exterior applications and is furnished in 26D/626 satin chrome.

The Simplex 2015 is an outside trim only. The exit device, latch, strike and exit-device mounting hardware are not included and must be purchased separately. Compatibility should be confirmed using the exact exit-device manufacturer, series, function, handing and hub rotation before ordering. Manufacturer specifications

Because exit-device manufacturers can change designs, always confirm current compatibility before ordering—even when the model appears in the published list.

Compatibility Restrictions

The Simplex 2015 requires an exit device with a compatible operating hub. According to dormakaba, it cannot be used with:

  • Counterclockwise-rotating exit-device hubs
  • Thumb-operated mortise exit-device designs
  • Incompatible vertical-rod exit devices
  • Devices without an accessible compatible trim hub
  • Applications where the hub centerline cannot align with the 2015 tailpiece

Some published compatibility lists contain device-family models with different rod or trim configurations. Confirm the exact device model and function, not only the series name.

Von Duprin Compatibility

The manufacturer lists compatibility with selected Von Duprin models, including:

  • Von Duprin 22 Rim and 22 Rim-F
  • Von Duprin 88 Rim and 88 Rim-F
  • Von Duprin 98 Rim and 98 Rim-F
  • Von Duprin 99 Rim and 99 Rim-F
  • Selected 2227, 9827, 9847, 9927 and 9947 configurations

For the most straightforward application, verify a compatible rim exit device with clockwise hub rotation. Vertical-rod applications should be confirmed before ordering because compatibility can vary by device configuration and production design.

Door and Installation Requirements

  • Door thickness: 1-3/8" to 2-1/2"
  • Minimum recommended stile: 3-1/8"
  • Installation is based on the centerline of the exit-device hub.
  • Exit-device preparation may require recessed through-bolting.
  • The exit device must have a compatible non-handed or clockwise-rotating hub.
  • Hub rotation is adjustable up to 90 degrees.
  • Standard tailpiece extends up to 2-3/4".
  • Optional 5" tailpiece is available separately.

Review both the Simplex installation template and the exit-device manufacturer’s template before drilling the door.

Tailpiece Options

Standard Tailpiece

  • Adjustable length up to 2-3/4"
  • Included with the Simplex 2015
  • Used for standard door and exit-device applications

Extended Tailpiece

  • 5" length
  • Part number: 74773-000-001
  • Sold separately
  • Intended for applications requiring additional reach

Exit-Device Dogging

A compatible non-fire-rated exit device may be dogged to hold its latch retracted. Dogging the exit device does not change or damage the Simplex 2015 combination.

When the device is undogged, the exterior trim returns to combination-controlled entry.

Fire-rated exit devices generally cannot be mechanically dogged. Follow the exit-device manufacturer’s instructions and applicable fire codes.

Combination Operation

The Simplex mechanical combination chamber supports thousands of possible combinations using up to five buttons.

Buttons may be:

  • Pressed individually
  • Pressed simultaneously in groups
  • Used in a sequence of individual and simultaneous entries

The lock stores one shared combination and does not provide:

  • Individual user codes
  • Audit trails
  • Time schedules
  • Remote access
  • Smartphone control
  • Electronic lockdown
  • Access-control system integration

Finish

The Simplex 2015 is available in:

  • 26D / 626 Satin Chrome

Other architectural finishes are not listed as standard options for this model.
