The dormakaba Simplex 1041 Mechanical Pushbutton Lock combines three exterior access methods in one reliable, battery-free commercial lock: combination entry, mechanical key override and passage operation.

During normal secured operation, an authorized user presses the programmed combination and turns the exterior knob to retract the latch. Management personnel can bypass the combination using a compatible mechanical key. When passage mode is activated from the interior, the exterior knob operates freely without requiring either the combination or a key.

The 1041 is the combination-entry, key-override and passage model in the knob-operated Simplex 1000 Series. It is an excellent solution for facilities requiring combination-controlled access after hours, keyed access for management or emergencies and unrestricted entry during normal business hours.

The mechanical key override allows the opening to remain part of a compatible keyed or master-keyed system. Available preparations support BEST-style small-format interchangeable cores and selected large-format removable cores from Corbin Russwin, Medeco, ASSA, Yale, Abloy, Schlage and Sargent. The correct core preparation must be selected when ordering. The cylinder core is not supplied with the lock.

Passage mode is activated and deactivated from the secure interior side using the special key or thumbturn furnished with passage-function models. While passage is active, users can turn the exterior knob without entering the combination. When passage mode is discontinued, the exterior knob returns to combination-controlled operation while the key override remains available.

Because the Simplex 1041 is completely mechanical, it requires no batteries, electricity, wiring, access cards, software, computer or network connection. It continues operating during power and network outages while eliminating recurring battery-replacement and electronic maintenance expenses.

The lock stores one shared access combination. A combination may use one to five buttons pressed individually or simultaneously, providing thousands of possible combinations. Authorized personnel can change the combination from the interior side using the furnished combination-change control key without removing the lock from the door.

Heavy-duty construction includes an all-metal cylindrical lock housing, molded front cover, brass adjustment plate, die-cast zinc knobs and vandal-resistant solid-metal pushbuttons. The 1041 installs on properly prepared wood or metal doors from 1-3/8" through 2-1/4" thick.
