The dormakaba Simplex 1031 is a heavy-duty mechanical pushbutton knob lock offering combination-controlled entry, interior-controlled passage mode and free egress. Passage mode allows the exterior knob to operate without entering the combination when unrestricted access is desired. The 1031 requires no batteries, wiring, keys or software and features field-reversible, weather-resistant construction with a 3-hour UL/ULC fire-rated cylindrical latch.
Full Product Description
The dormakaba Simplex 1031 Mechanical Pushbutton Lock provides battery-free combination access with an interior-controlled passage function. During normal secured operation, an authorized user enters the programmed combination and turns the exterior knob to retract the latch. From the interior, the knob provides free egress without requiring a code.
The 1031 is the combination-entry and passage model in the knob-operated Simplex 1000 Series. When passage mode is activated from the interior, the exterior knob operates freely without requiring the combination. This allows a normally secured opening to remain accessible during business hours, meetings, deliveries or other scheduled periods.
When passage mode is deactivated, the exterior knob returns to combination-controlled operation. Passage is controlled from the interior using the special key or thumbturn supplied with passage-function models, preventing exterior users from changing the operating mode.
The Simplex 1031 does not include a mechanical key override. Exterior users enter by combination during normal secured operation or simply turn the knob while passage mode is active.
Because the 1031 is completely mechanical, it requires no batteries, wiring, electricity, access cards, software, computer or network connection. It continues operating independently of power failures and eliminates recurring battery-replacement expenses.
The lock stores one shared access combination. A combination may use one to five buttons pressed individually or simultaneously, providing thousands of possibilities. Authorized personnel can change the combination from the interior side using the furnished combination-change control key without removing the lock from the door.
Heavy-duty construction includes an all-metal cylindrical lock housing, molded front cover, brass adjustment plate, die-cast zinc knobs and vandal-resistant solid-metal pushbuttons. The lock installs on properly prepared wood or metal doors from 1-3/8" through 2-1/4" thick.
The cylindrical latch carries a 3-hour UL/ULC fire rating for “A”-labeled doors, and the lock is weather resistant for indoor or appropriate outdoor applications. The Simplex 1031 is factory configured for left-hand doors but can be reversed in the field. Manufacturer specifications
